Privacy notice

What we store

• Account: email address, sign-in identifier, hashed password (handled by our authentication provider).
• Profile: display name, handle, avatar URL, optional Couchsurfing handle.
• Listings you publish and their approximate location (coordinates are rounded before being shared publicly).
• Messages you send to other users.
• Exchange history and points-ledger entries.

Why we store it

To operate the platform: let you sign in, show your listings to others, deliver messages, track exchanges, and moderate against the listing rules.

Who can see it

• Other users see your public profile fields and the listings you publish.
• The other party of a conversation or exchange sees the messages and details of that exchange.
• Platform staff can access data to investigate abuse reports and moderate content.
• We do not sell, rent, or share personal data for advertising.

Who processes it for us

• Lovable Cloud — hosting, database, authentication, edge compute.
• Lovable AI Gateway — automated screening of new listings.

NomadShare does not use any external maps or place-search provider. Locations are entered as plain text and matched against a bundled city list — no third-party map tiles are loaded and no IP address is shared with a maps vendor.

Cookies & browser storage

We use only essential storage needed to keep you signed in and remember your consent choice for the current tab. No third-party advertising, no behavioural analytics, no persistent visitor cookie. Guest-session state uses sessionStorage and evaporates when you close the tab — see the trust page for the technical details.

Regional variations

If your browser locale suggests you are in the EEA, UK, Switzerland, Brazil, or Quebec, the first-visit banner is opt-in: nothing non-essential runs until you decide. In other regions the banner is a one-line notice with a Manage link. You can change your mind anytime at /settings/privacy.

Retention & deletion

We keep your data while your account is active. To delete your account and associated data, email meowtogetfood@gmail.com from the address on your account. Because the platform is volunteer-run, please allow up to 30 days. Messages you sent to other users may remain visible to them after deletion.

Your rights

You can ask us to access, correct, export, or delete the data we hold about you by emailing the address above. Depending on where you live (e.g. EU/UK, California), you may have additional rights under local law — we will honour those on request.

Children

NomadShare is intended for adults. Do not use the platform if you are under 18.

Changes

If we change this notice we will update the date below. Material changes will also be announced in the app.
